Dr. Áine Lombard, Director of Blue Sky Psychology

Chartered Counselling Psychologist, C.Psychol., Ps.S.I.

With over ten years’ experience in the field of Psychology, I draw on various therapeutic approaches to provide a bespoke, supportive, collaborative, and client-focused service. This means I’ll work with you, using the type of therapy that best suits you as an individual and considers your personal needs and circumstances.

There are a multitude of issues and concerns that may prompt any person, of any background, in any situation, to seek out a psychologist. These may include experiences of helplessness, feelings of distress, confusion, or stagnation personally or professionally. Often, people feel stuck and unable to address their difficulties alone; this helplessness is a universal human trait; however, it can be lessened through talking therapy.

In my role as a Counselling Psychologist, I feel it is important to work collaboratively to engage with and understand your difficulties within a safe, confidential and supportive setting, where you will be treated with respect and compassion. The aim of our work together will be to enable you to explore new perspectives and choices and find a way towards an improved sense of well-being.

I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, U.K., [Membership No. PYL31683] and a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland [Membership No. M12836C]. Furthermore, I am an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and have further qualifications in therapies such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Over the past decade, I have lived and worked in the UK, the Middle East and more recently, mainland Europe before returning to Ireland in 2022. As a result, I have worked in a variety of settings (NHS, charities, medical centres) with people from all over the world. My career to date has led me to develop a deep interest in working with people who have experienced trauma and suffered abuse offering culturally sensitive therapy. Other special interest areas of mine include addiction, living with long term physical health difficulties (diabetes, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, impact of cancer), weight management and working therapeutically with couples.
